Oakland A’s Outfielder Matt Joyce Suspended For Gay Slur
During the 8th inning of a win against the LA Angels in Anaheim, Oakland A’s outfielder Matt Joyce got into an argument with a fan. As Joyce returned to the dugout, the Associated Press says Joyce called the fan an anti-gay slur and challenged him to fight. Major League Baseball announced a 2 game suspension without pay and said that Joyce will take part in a public outreach initiative with PFLAG, a family and ally organization supporting the LGBTQ community. Luckily for fans, there are no suspensions for them and they can continue to yell as many obscene things they want, even at their own players.
