O&A Troubles Continue, Now Anthony Cumia Gets the Boot From Twitter…Three Times

The gossip news continues for the Opie and Anthony show hosts. Anthony Cumia, formerly of the Opie and Anthony show has been permanently terminated from Twitter less than a week after his former radio partner Gregg “Opie” Hughes was fired from his gig at SiriusXM. And it seems to be for reasons related to Opie’s termination.

Cumia was temporarily banned from Twitter last week, but on Tuesday, he was banned again, and this one looks permanent. Twitter doesn’t give reasons for bans, at least not publicly, but Cumia claims the ban is related to a fight he had last week with A.V. Club journalist Katie Rife.

UPDATE:  Cumia confirmed on his show Wednesday, that he does not know why he was banned from Twitter on Tuesday, but speculated that it could be related to his tweet at Rife. He also said that he never joined GAB.ai.  “I can only speculate that would be the tweet,” he said.

The argument was related to a short article the writer posted commenting on Hughes’ firing and included some misinformation and commentary. The article was titled, “SiriusXM wipes away last trace of Opie & Anthony by firing Opie” and commented, “We don’t know whether this was a prank that went too far or if it was just straight-up creepy—that line was always pretty blurry, anyway,” and added, about former Opie and Anthony co-host Jim Norton, “Norton could stay on, bringing the show to its Live With Kelly And Michael phase of existence, or the show could dissipate like a fart into a microphone, leaving little but a faint smell of rotten eggs and stunned commuters spitting out coffee in its wake.”

Cumia responded to the writer on Twitter, coming to Opie’s defense with a Tweet that was likely deemed harassing and abusive by the service. Cumia wrote “ur inaccurate shit piece on Opie’s firing is almost as embarrassing as a fat old trans looking twat w/period red hair” and included a photo of Rife taken from her Twitter.

Only hours after his @AnthonyCumia account was banned and deleted, Cumia created a new Twitter account, @AnthonyCumiaAlt which was quickly discovered and removed by the social media network.

And this is where shit really got real weird.  It initially appeared that Cumia rose again, this time on a different platform– GAB.AI, which has a platform similar to Twitter. The account was  already verified there  (although who knows what it takes to get verified on GAB) and EP Keith the Cop initially confirmed via Twitter that it was in fact, Anthony, but that tweet is gone, and replaced with a tweet saying to “disregard” the GAB account.

The Cumia account’s first GAB message explained the departure from Twitter as relating to the aforementioned tweet. “Twitter banned me for calling out this whores bullshit attack on Opie,” including a photo of an A.V. Club journalist. That message was later deleted.  Soon after, the account wrote that there would be an update forthcoming (it wasn’t), and then things get really strange. The only new post links to a YouTube video, titled “Anthony Cumia Suspended from Twitter July, 11 2017 – Please Watch and Share.”

Cumia was also fired from SiriusXM- three years prior to Opie’s termination. He now hosts The Anthony Cumia Show on his own network, Compound Media.  He will no doubt address the Twitter issues today on his show which airs live at 4pm.

Meanwhile, Opie made his first public appearance since being fired today, at the deli and restaurant of co-host Carl Ruiz in Chatham, New Jersey. He live streamed the appearance on Facebook.
