Husband and wife writing team Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco have partnered up with Netflix to write and produce the new original series Friends from College. The eight-episode series will focus on a group of friends in their late 30’s who all attended Harvard together in their youth and are now enjoying varying degrees of success in their personal and professional lives. The show will examine romance, expectations versus reality, and the pangs of nostalgia that we all deal with as we age. The cast is jam-packed with stars such as Keegan Michael Key (Key and Peele, Keanu), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, The Avengers), Fred Savage The Wonder Years, The Grinder) and Nat Faxon (Ben and Kate, Beerfest).

“Nick is a comedic mastermind. With Friends from College, he and Francesca have created a world that is both moving and very, very funny” said Netflix VP of Original Content Cindy Holland. “We are thrilled to be working with them and this incredible cast, and look forward to audiences around the world laughing with and at these relatable characters.”

While this will be the first significant project as a writer for Delbanco, who until now has mostly had small parts in films like Get Him to the Greek and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it will be just one in a long list of shows and movies on Stoller’s resume. Stoller has had a hand in writing, producing and directing some major comedic hits for both the big and small screen, including Neighbors 1&2, Get Him to the Greek, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Five Year Engagement, The Muppets and The Carmichael Show. Stoller and Delbanco will write and executive produce together, and Stoller will direct all eight episodes of the first season.

A show with a cast as star-studded and writing/production team as seasoned as Friends from College has a ton of potential to be great, so keep an eye out for this one.
