New Fox Comedies Debut in March, Bumping Hit Shows
It looks like Fox has decided Tuesday and Sunday are their comedy nights. And with that in mind, their new series Weird Loners and Last Man on Earth have to fit into those schedules. It looks like the Mulany season will wrap in March, and Fox is holding their left of center comedies until then.
Weird Loners will premiere March 31st at 9:30 on Tuesday, in The Mindy Project’s slot, right after New Girl. Considering The Mindy Project just got an order for additional episodes, pulling the show from the schedule in March is just a causality of an overcrowded schedule. Weird Loners is about four anti-social weirdos who live in Queens and are pulled into one another’s lives. The show stars Becki Newton, Zachary Knighton, Nate Torrence, Meera Rohit Kumbhani.
Perhaps the oddest show coming to network TV is the Last Man on Earth, a post-apocalyptic comedy about the last man on earth, played by series creator Will Forte. Forte reunites with his Clone High creators Phil Lord and Chris Miller (22 Jump Street, Lego Movie), who direct the 10 episode limited series. The show will be taking the Sunday night 9:30 slot (after bumping Family Guy the first week for an hour long premiere March 1st), which is currently the slot for Bob’s Burgers. Which means Bob’s Burgers will be moving again, back to 7:30 pm ET, making it the one show Fox refuses to give a consistent time slot to on the network.
