New Episodes of Arrested Development Coming Exclusively to Netflix

The internet is humming with the news that the cult phenomenon “Arrested Development” is back in development to create brand new episodes that will air as early as 2013.  This is tremendous news for the fans of the  critically acclaimed Emmy winning show who always felt its life was cut short too soon when it was cancelled in 2006.

“Everyone, ourselves included, seems to feel like the Bluths left the party a bit too soon,” said Brian Grazer and Ron Howard of Imagine TV, which co-produced Arrested Development with 20th TV (Howard also narrates the show). “Bringing a series back from cancellation almost never happens, but then, Arrested always was about as unconventional as they get, so it seems totally appropriate that this show that broke the mold is smashing it to pieces once again.”

But the new episodes won’t be airing on Fox, they won’t be airing on ABC, NBC or CBS.  They will be airing exclusively on….Netflix!?  Netflix is currently known primarily as a place to rent DVDs and stream movies and previously aired television, but their plans to expand into original programming have long been evident.  In fact,  Arrested Development isn’t the first show that the developing Netflix network plans to air as a first-run series.  They recently purchased the rights to two original series: the drama House Of Cards and the comedy Orange Is The New Black.
