CBS’s new fall comedy, The McCarthys will debut on Thursday nights at 9:30 and will star Laurie Metcalf, Jack McGee (“The Fighter”, “Rescue Me”), and Tyler Ritter (son of the late John Ritter) as a loud, sports-obsessed Boston family. Ritter plays the black sheep of the family, Ronny, who is athletically challenged, and he’s also gay. When Ronny decides he wants to move to Rhode Island, his politically incorrect dad, who happens to also be a high school basketball coach, asks Ronny to come work with him. Joey McIntyre (“New Kids on the Block”, “Heat”), Kelen Coleman (“The Newsroom”)  and comedian Jimmy Dunn also star.  The series is based on writer Brian Gallivan’s real life

The McCarthy’s join CBS’s existing comedies The Millers, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, Two and a Half Men for the fall, the return of Mike & Molly later in the season, and a reboot of The Odd Couple starring Matthew Perry as Oscar Madison and Thomas Lennon as Felix Unger.
