Netflix Locks In New Animated Series Starring Voice of Tiffany Haddish From BoJack Horseman Creators

Tiffany Haddish’s voice is set to star in the next Netflix animated comedy. Tuca and Bertie, a 10-episode animated series just got a straight to series order from Netflix. Haddish will voice Tuca, a thirty-year-old cocky and care-free toucan in a series about her friendship with another thirty-year-old feathered female- Bertie, an anxious songbird.

The series comes from the same team that has made BoJack Horseman a cult favorite. The voice of Bertie has not yet been cast.  The new series is produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company.

Tuca and Bertie is the latest animated comedy series starring stand up standouts. BoJack Horseman stars a long list of stand up comedy superstars, and Netflix is also the home of Bill Burr’s animated series F is for Family, and Nick Kroll’s Big Mouth.

Tiffany Haddish announcements have been coming in rapid fire in 2018. Ever since her explosive appearance in Girls Trip made her an instant superstar (instant only in terms of celebrity, Haddish has been working hard and has been loved by comedy critics for decades), it seems everyone wants to get in the Haddish Business. After a killer 2017 with a debut stand up hour on Showtime, a co-starring role on The Carmichael Show, a best selling book and a gig hosting SNL, 2018 has brought a first look deal with HBO, a co-starring role in a Kevin Hart film, she’ll co-star opposite Tracy Morgan in The Last O.G. and so many other announces that we’ve lost track including Limited Partners, The Oath, The Kitchen, and The Temp, the latter of which she will also executive produce.
