NBC Rebooting “Real Genius” As A TV Series

Real-Genius

After announcing that the network is building a sitcom based on the 1990’s movie “Problem Child“, NBC is now picking another film from that era to turn into a TV comedy. NBC is developing a series inspired by the 1985 movie “Real Genius”.

Deadline reports that the series will be produced by Sony TV and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production company. The pilot will be written by Craig DiGregorio (Workaholics) and David King (Parks And Recreation). The single camera comedy will be an updated version of the movie set in the workplace featuring a genius with rock star status and his naive co-worker. The original “Real Genius” starred Val Kilmer, Gabriel Jarret and William Atherton.

NBC is planning to put the best elements of the movie into every week, but how are the writers going to find a way to write a house exploding with popcorn into every episode?
