It’s been 3 and 1/2 decades since NBC has had an all drama Thursday night and now it’s back. The network put out its mid-season schedule line up and there’s not a comedy to be found. The time block that once was the home to comedies like “Friends”, “Seinfeld”, “The Cosby Show”, “Cheers”, “Frasier”, “Will & Grace”, “30 Rock” and “The Office” is now dedicated to dramas.

The new NBC Thursday will feature the mini-series “The Slap” at 8 pm et, which is about a family which falls completely apart in a domino effect after a relative slaps another family member’s misbehaving kid. “The Blacklist” starring James Spader anchors the night at 9 pm et and that’s followed by the new spy drama, “Allegiance” at 10 pm et.

The last time NBC did all drama TV on Thursday was the 1979-80 season, when it aired Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Quincy M.E. and Kate Loves a Mystery. Now we know why it took so long to come back. The new line up starts Thursday, February 5th on NBC.
