Monty Python Scores Number One Funeral Song

People in Great Britain hate dying, but if they must, the new most requested song at their funerals is from Monty Python’s “Life of Brian”. In a survey of funeral directors, Monty Python’s “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life” is the song loved ones want the most to say goodbye to the deceased.

The Telegraph reported that the tune from the 1979 comedy beat out traditional hymns, as well as songs like Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” Robbie Williams’ “Angel” and Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On”. Although the Celine Dion song probably does well with people lost at sea.

A spokesman for the funeral directors group surveyed said, “We wonder if it’s the people who were young in the swinging sixties, who are now in their 70s and 80s, and if that’s informing this trend. Monty Python, for example, is of a certain age.” It should be only a matter of time before “Sit On My Face” moves up the list.
