Monty Python Releases New Verse!

Originally written for Monty Python’s “Life of Brian”, Eric Idle’s “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life” has evolved since 1979.

The song has been used as a sports chant over the years and was even performed as part of the opening ceremonies for the 2012 London Olympics. “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life” is now finding another life.

Monty Python has released a new version of the song, upgraded with a special verse for the upcoming World Cup tournament. The Pythons call the new release, “The Unofficial England Football Anthem”. It’s not exactly a fight song and pretty low on England’s chances. But it might bring some slight comfort to English fans should their team go out of the group competition early. It’s amazing how versatile a song written for a man hanging on a cross has become.

The updated version was released ahead of Monty Python’s ten reunion shows in London next month.
