Miss ‘Futurama?’ Here’s a Way to Scratch That Itch

It’s been almost four years since the cult classic show Futurama ended. The Emmy and WGA Award-winning show was notorious for its hilarious take on sci-fi tropes, its often-surprising insightfulness, and its ability to unexpectedly tug on viewers heartstrings (still over here crying from Jurassic Bark 15 years later). While creator Matt Groening has expressed interest in reviving the show, it does appear that, for the time being, no new episodes are in the works. Fans of the show are now in luck, however, as Los Angeles-based game developer Jam City has announced that they will be launching a mobile-based Futurama game in the coming months.

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is being made by Jam City in conjunction with series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, as well as Groening’s Curiosity Company. The game will be a choose-your-own-adventure style game, allowing players to play as the beloved Planet Express crew, exploring both the iconic New New York as well as various locations throughout space. More information on the game will be released in the near future, but in the meantime, check out this teaser trailer for the project, the first official Futurama animation to come out since the show ended back in 2013.
