Melissa McCarthy Describes Becoming Sean ‘Spicey’ Spicer for SNL

The magic behind Melissa McCarthy’s “SNL” transformation into White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer may not be the most bizarre part of the new administration, but it warrants some explanation. McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for a sit-down interview and were asked whose idea the role was. McCarthy retold how Groundlings alum and “SNL” writer Kent Sublette asking if McCarthy was interested in portraying Spicer and “cut to somebody being like, ‘boy do you really look like that guy’”.

Surrounded by comparison pictures of herself and the actual Sean Spicer, McCarthy broke down some of the weirder aspects of her transformation. There’s how much she looks like her dad as Sean Spicer, how drastically your face changes once you mess with the shape of your ears and a potential family Christmas photo with her daughters being totally not into their mother as Sean Spicer.

Melissa McCarthy will be hosting SNL in April, so there will most definitely be more Spicer coming!
