Mel Brooks HBO Special Airs Tonight! Watch Some Clips

Tonight there will be jokes, stories, songs and a lesson in comedy history when national treasure Mel Brooks takes the stage in his new HBO special, “Mel Brooks: Live At The Geffen”. There isn’t a part of show business that Mel Brooks hasn’t touched and he’s got trophies to prove it. His very crowded mantle holds multiple Emmy Awards, an Oscar, four Grammys and a three Tonys. Plus an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award and a medal from the Kennedy Center Honors.

At 88 years old, there will be plenty for Mel Brooks to talk about in his new special, which is the third HBO special he’s done in this decade alone. Starting as a writer on Sid Caesar’s comedy series, “Your Show of Shows”, his routines with Carl Reiner, his film work which included writing and directing classic comedies including “The Producers,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Young Frankenstein” and his time on Broadway.

Tonight’s special taped at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, was done in front of a live audience and will also include Mel Brooks performing songs he wrote for some of his films, a Q&A with the audience and in special moment, Mel remembering his wife, the late Anne Bancroft.
