Mel Brooks, Ali Wong to Headline RIOT LA in 2017

The fourth annual RIOT LA festival, held back in January, was one for the record books. As we pointed out in our review, each stage was graced by killer comics and hilarious shows, from Paul F. Tompkins’ No, You Shut Up! to Baron Vaughn’s The New Negroes. The great thing about budding festivals like RIOT is that they can really only get better and this year’s event promises to do just that.

The full lineup for the 2017 festival has just been announced, and it is jam-packed with talent. This year’s event will include Mel Brooks (Yes, MEL BROOKS!), Tig Notaro, Ali Wong, Bobcat Goldthwait, Nikki Glaser, Baron Vaughn, Andy Kindler, Kyle Kinane, Eugene Mirman, Todd Barry, Tommy Johnagin, James Acaster, Daniel Sloss, Rory Scovel, Fortune Feimster, Ron Funches, Aparna Nancherla, Maeve Higgins, Jo Firestone, Rachel Bloom, Josie Long, Caitlin Gill, John Early, Felipe Esparza and many, many more.

On top of the stand-up sets, the festival will also play host to a few stage shows and podcast recordings, including A Live Conversation with Mel Brooks (and a screening of Blazing Saddles,) About Last Night with Adam Ray and Brad Williams, Dr. Katz Live!, Literary Death Match, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark and Guys We’ve Fucked: The Experience. Internet meme factory Super Deluxe will have its own stage and space which will play host to a Ferris Wheel, various food trucks, arcade games and a bunch of exclusive content.

RIOT LA is taking place from January 19th — 22nd at a few venues across L.A., including The Orpheum Theatre and The Novo.
