Industry: Seth McFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Has a New President
Seth MacFarlane’s two-decade old production house Fuzzy Door appointed Jason Clark as president of production. Also known as the Spotted Door, the company has worked in hand with Fox to further MacFarlane’s various projects since the advent of “Family Guy”.
Only recently has the Door branched into productions not helmed by MacFarlane as star, most notably with Nat Geo’s “Cosmos”. A continuation of this pattern of MacFarlane taking a slightly back seat (he still resides as producer or executive producer) has been evident in the Door’s latest animations, MacFarlane’s usual forte, with ”Bordertown”, a creation by former “Family Guy writer Mark Hentemann” and “Blunt Talk” a Starz sitcom starring author Jonathan Ames.
While MacFarlane perhaps concentrates on diversifying his work as a producer, the aforementioned Clark will step in to oversee all areas of production and development for their current slate, as well as scouting for future projects. Clark has worked on live-action and animated projects, some starring MacFarlane, including “A Million Ways to Die in the West” and the Ted franchise. Clark’s extensive experience handling the responsibilities it seems MacFarlane has handled could signify MacFarlane’s hunt for a partner, or a sign he wants to return to his role as star.
Considering MacFarlane’s role in the family musical “Sing” and Clark’s creds as executive producer on “Mr. Peabody and Sherman”, the move might also foreshadow the Door’s move into family-friendly entertainment.
