Believe it or not, in the 1998 draft, Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf were widely considered to be the two best players available, and sports fans hotly debated whether Leaf or Manning should be selected first. Many thought Leaf with a stronger arm and having a better head for pro style offense should go first. Manning went first, Leaf second and it seemed pro football would have a magic-byrd style rivalry for the next 15 years. Manning went on to be all pro and Leaf was a wash out and ended up here.
