Louis C.K. Thrilled Boston Comedy Fans By Dropping In at a Free Bar Show

Luke Touma just turned 22, and last year, he dropped out of school to pursue a career in comedy full time. Like many comedians looking to get something going, he runs his own bar show up in Boston. The bar is McGreevy’s on Boylston Street and the show runs every Monday and Tuesday night.

Last night, they had the drop in of a lifetime- Louis C.K.

Louis was in town to play the Wang Theatre in Boston (tonight, Thursday and Friday night). Last night Joe List, who is opening for Louis at the Wang was scheduled to headline the 10pm show at McGreevy’s.

Any show would be thrilled to have List as the headliner, and they had three great local comedians go up before Joe. Then as List was finishing up his set, the audience got treated to about as good a night as a comedy fan could ask for- List brought Louis C.K. up to do 20 minutes after everyone else. The crowd of about 70 fans went crazy, realizing their decision to go see comedy on that particular Valentine’s Day was a particularly great decision.

Touma said that C.K. had to run right after doing the set, but not before taking the time to compliment Luke on his set. “I didn’t even know he watched my set but he told me I do a “gutsy” set. He said the topics I cover aren’t easy to talk about on stage,” Luke told us. “Hearing him tell me that and watching him say it, was one of the most surreal moments of my life.”

Luke posted a photo on his Facebook page with this caption, “I dropped out of school last year to do comedy. Last week was my 22nd birthday. Right now I’m watching my childhood hero Louis CK on stage at my show. Thank you guys for the love. I honestly love everyone. Life is so fucking crazy.”

Tonight, tomorrow night and Friday night, 3500 fans a night will pack into a beautiful theater to see Louis C.K.’s newest hour, but Tuesday night, 70 very appreciate comedy fans got to see something truly special…for free!
