Louis C.K. Roasts New York Mayor At Inner Circle Dinner

Saturday night was the New York City Inner Circle Dinner. The dinner and performance is NYC’s version of the White House Correspondents Dinner. Louis C.K. was on hand to help roast the mayor of the city, Bill De Blasio. In the sketch they performed together, Louis played the part of the mayor’s subconscious. When De Blasio would make a statement about something in a very politically correct way, Louis would give the translation as to what the mayor was really thinking.

According to the New York Daily News, Louis C.K. jokes about the mayor’s policies and his personal preferences. On the topic of De Blasio’s Vision Zero plan to reduce pedestrian fatalities, Louis said, “The only way to have zero pedestrian deaths is to have zero stupid people.” On a more personal issue, De Blasio talked about moving into the mayor’s residence at Gracie Mansion and Louis came back with “He really wants to live in Boston. He hates it here.” Louis also addressed the De Blasio citywide scandal where the mayor was caught eating pizza with a knife and fork. The media which was in full attendance didn’t go unnoticed by Louis’ inner-mayor voice. He said to the crowd, “Is there anything more useless than a reporter?”

Comedy Central’s Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore was also part the variety and comedy sketch evening. The event was expected to raise $100,000 for New York City charities.
