Louis C.K. Joins Netflix’s Slate of Comedy Legends Getting Multi-Special Deals

Netflix is leaving no comedy legend stone unturned. They’ve got Chappelle, Rock, Seinfeld, Schumer, and they are going after every living comedy giant. If you were wondering whether Louis C.K. would join the ranks, or continue his self-production, self-distribution model….you now have your answer.

Today, Netflix announced that Louis C.K. will create two hour specials for the streaming giant and grab some of what we’ve come to call “Oprah Money.” No dollar amount has been released for the special, but we have to assume that Louis has been enticed out of his self-distribution model with some pretty serious numbers in tune with what was offered to Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.

The first of the two specials was filmed in Washington D.C. and will debut April 4 under the title 2017, exclusively of course, on Netflix.

No comment yet from Louis, who has received over 30 Emmy nominations throughout his career, including wins for “Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series” for his work on Louie and awards for “Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special” for his stand up comedy specials.
