Los Angeles Film Critics (except Gbaby) Give Out Awards

As we’re gearing up toward Oscar season, the New York and Los Angeles critics awards are always a good barometer for who is going to get the Academy Award nominations. That would seem to be good news for The Descendants and The Artist who got the best picture awards on the two coasts. Of course there are no guarantees. Last year, The Social Network won a lot of the early awards only to lose late in the game to The Kings Speech. The Los Angeles Film Critics Awards go to:

Best Foreign Language Film:  City of Life and Death

Best Independent/Experimental:  Spark of Being

Best Documentary/Nonfiction:  Cave of Forgotten Dreams

Best Screenplay:  Asghar Farhadi, A Separation

Best Cinematography:  Emmanuel Lubezki, The Tree of Life

Best Production Design:  Dante Ferratti, Hugo

Best Music/Score:  The Chemical Brothers, Hanna
