Every week, Christine Marie Evans and Emily Cohen curate this list, carefully reviewing dozens of shows every night, to select the live stand up comedy shows you need check out. Comedy producers can submit their show for consideration for our listings each week.

Show: NEW YORK COMEDY FESTIVAL: Joe DeRosa

Description of Show and Lineup:

Joe DeRosa started stand-up comedy by hitting the Wednesday night open mic at the Laff House in Philadelphia, PA. Within a year, he was a regular there and at all the major clubs in the surrounding area. It was not long before Joe made the jump to New York City to take up comedy as a full time gig. He quickly began working frequently at New York venues such as Caroline’s, Stand-up New York, the Laugh Factory, and Gotham Comedy Club. He also made appearances on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” and the “New Faces” showcase at the Montreal Comedy Festival. In addition, he’s performed on national tours such as Dave Chappelle’s “Block Party Tour” and the “Insomniac Tour” with Dave Attell. Joe continues to perform constantly, making television appearances and headlining clubs and colleges both in and out of the country. It was not long before Joe made the jump to New York City to take up comedy as a full time gig. He quickly began working frequently at New York venues such as Caroline’s, Stand-up New York, the Laugh Factory, and Gotham Comedy Club. Dan Finnerty caught America’s attention as the foul-mouthed wedding singer in the box-office smash Old School, performing his now-infamous rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart, as well as his appearance as the sleazy bat-mitzvah singer in Starsky & Hutch and again as the inappropriate wedding singer in the record breaking hit, The Hangover.
What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty singing I Am Woman at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into THE DAN BAND – a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Rolling  Stone, Variety among others, and prompted Entertainment Weekly to dub it “The hottest ticket in Hollywood.”
