Listen to a Clip of Doug Stanhope Narrating ‘Digging Up Mother’ Audiobook
Back in May, comedian Doug Stanhope released his memoir, Digging Up Mother, to critical acclaim.
The tell-all book from one of comedy’s most honest and unrepentant comics focuses on his relationship with his mother, Bonnie. A former truck driver and bartender, Stanhope credits his mother as the one responsible for forging his darkly unabashed sense of humor. Anyone familiar with the comic’s career knows that Bonnie must have been an interesting woman if she was able to spawn Doug Stanhope.
This book is essential reading for any fan of comedy, and now learning Stanhope’s story will be easier than ever. On Tuesday, August 16th, Audible will release the audiobook version of Digging Up Mother, narrated by none other than Stanhope himself. The book is written using Stanhope’s signature descriptive style, so only Stanhope could truly do the narrative justice by lending his voice to the project.
To whet your appetite, Audible has released a pivotal clip from the book, with Stanhope talking about visiting his mother on her deathbed. Check out that clip below:
You can (and should) order your copy through Audible’s website.
