Liebovitz Shoots Schumer For Vanity Fair Cover

Amy Schumer’s done it again. She’s a cover girl, posing provocatively and a little tongue in cheek, but this time it’s for Vanity Fair magazine.  Schumer is a fire-engine red hot cover girl with a very 1940’s Hollywood style on this months cover. Famed portrait artist Annie Liebovitz shot the cover story in a style reminiscent of pin up photographers Vargas and Evgren.

The issue is sisters themed, and Amy’s relationship with sister Kim Caramele is a perfect fit for a sisters issue.  They’re power siblings for sure. Carmele is a writer producer on Inside Amy Schumer, a producer on Trainwreck and is working with her sister on a number of new projects.  And you’ll rarely see Amy accepting an honor or award without hearing her say she couldn’t have done it without Kim.  But although Kim does make a great interior shot in the magazine, it’s all about Amy on the cover.  In fact, the cover proclaims Schumer is America’s kid sister, and captions the cover story “she’s smart, funny and loyal, so why is she such a lightening rod?”

Schumer also included a few outtakes from the photoshoot on her Instagram, including another cheesecake pin up shot of in gold astride a faux missile- literally a bombshell shot.  Schumer’s favorite was a more modern shot- wearing a just a t-shirt- which she said she had to beg Liebovitz to shoot.  “I begged Annie to photograph me with no underwear on in just a T-shirt,” Schumer told Vanity Fair. “I explained to her how important it was to me and she finally agreed. I felt powerful and beautiful. She understood once we shot it. Or maybe she ran to the bathroom to throw up. It was one of the most meaningful moments of my life.”

The issue hits newsstands May 16.
