As you’ve probably heard by now, Michael Strahan, one of the two hosts of Live with Kelly and Michael, announced two weeks ago, to the surprise of co-host Kelly Ripa, that he was leaving the show in order to work full time on Good Morning America. The news came as a total shock to Ripa, and the fact that Strahan was moving to another show on the same network, without any advance warning, pissed Ripa off even more. Both Ripa and fans of the show have been up in arms over the decision ever since. As it turns out, there’s one super-fan who’s angrier than all of the others combined: Lewis Black.

Black hosted his regular segment, Back in Black, on The Daily Show last night and aired his frustrations over the Ripa/Strahan drama. He made it clear right from the jump that he was not happy with Strahan: A clip played where Strahan said that fans were talking about him like he died, to which Black responded “You may technically still be alive, but you’re dead to me!”

“Watching you and her playfully banter is the only thing that gets me up in the morning. Who the hell else is going to teach me to make muffin-pan meatloaf?” mused the comic. After playing a clip of Ripa emotionally addressing her audience days after Strahan’s announcement, Black quipped “She’s a wreck! How could you do this Strahan?! This is the worst thing a former football star has ever done to a blonde woman!” That one got a great reaction from the crowd, to which Black responded “Oh shut up, he was acquitted!”

Black then went on to suggest that he knew “just the man for the job: he’s charming, he’s clever, and he has the perfect temperament for morning television.” That man, of course, is Lewis Black. Black then played an audition tape of himself hosting the show alongside Ripa, ringing in International Women’s Month, cooking with Stanley Tucci, and learning a choreographed dance, all in trademark Lewis Black fashion.

Check out the clip below to see Black’s righteous anger and his equally righteous audition tape:
