Laugh.ly Comedy App Now Streaming Live from Clubs and Festivals

Last year, Silicon Valley wunderkind Dave Scott launched Laugh.ly, a mobile comedy streaming app that allows comedy fans access to a huge library of comedy performances, both live recordings and album material, from a database of hundreds of comics. The app promised to change the way that folks listen to their favorite comics (and discover new ones), and now they’re looking to take that one step further.

In a press release this week, the Laugh.ly team announced that they have become the first comedy streaming app to offer livestreams of comedy performances at festivals and clubs, with one of their first events being the beloved upcoming Moontower Comedy Festival in Austin. This is great news for all lovers of comedy, but especially for those of us who live outside of major cities and therefore don’t get the chance to catch comics in one of the many famous clubs or big-name fests around the country. This doesn’t just benefit the fans, however; The new feature now offers yet another way for up-and-coming comics to be heard as well. In the case of club performances, livestream content will be available for 24 hours after it occurs, whereas festival performances will not be archived at all and must be heard live.

“Our goal is twofold. For audiences, no matter where you live, you can have an all-access pass to the very best comedy shows, enjoying major stars and discovering new talents,” said Dave Scott. “For comics, it extends Laugh.ly’s mission to help them gain exposure and build their fan base, protecting their acts from bootlegging and jokelifting with the immediacy of the livestream.”

To roll out the new feature, the Laugh.ly team will be streaming from a handful of comedy events in the next month, which you can find below:

April 8th: World Series of Comedy regionals in Chattanooga, TN

April 19th — 22nd: Moontower Comedy Festival in Austin, TX

May 15th: Funniest Person in Austin in Austin, TX

May 20th: Carmen Lynch in New York, NY

More livestream events will be announced as they get closer, so be sure to head over to the Laughly website for more information.
