Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of October 16, 2017

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

Most of the late night comedy talkers are taking the week off. You know, just like how you and all your co-workers always get that mid-Autumn vacation. Sound like everyone is taking the week off to prepare for their scary / funny Halloween shows. So, highlights this week will focus on with Trevor Noah and Live, plus some rerun highlights to give you a heads up on some late night comedy you might have missed the first time around.

This week, the Daily Show is going on the road, much like when Trevor Noah traveled to Cleveland and Philadelphia for the Republican and Democratic National Conventions last year. Wow. What that only last year!? It feels like a million Trump years ago. This time out Noah and his Best F#@king News Team Ever is headed to the Windy City for “The Daily Show Undesked Chicago 2017: Let’s Do This Before It Gets Too Damn Cold.” It will be an entire week of shows done from The Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago and focusing on the people and issues going on in Chi-Town.

Also airing new shows this week is Jimmy Kimmel Live. This week will be the third trip East for the “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Back to Brooklyn” week of shows. Jimmy Kimmel will be doing his shows from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. JKL will have a running musical guest throughout the entire week, a lot like the way Late Night with does. However, Jimmy K. has gotten the greatest late night musical director and side-kick of all time (Sorry, Doc Severinsen), Paul Shaffer from Late Night with and the Late Show with David Letterman. Plus, Jimmy Kimmel is bringing in fantastic comedy guests this week to take advantage of everyone else being asleep on the beach somewhere warm and tropical. Besides bandleader and musical director Paul Shaffer, Kimmel will host (Monday), his late night idol, David Letterman (Tuesday), Howard Stern (Wednesday), (Thursday), and Woody Harrelson for a rare new JKL Friday show. Plus, as a musical guest bonus, on Thursday, Jimmy Kimmel welcomes The Piano Man, Billy Joel for an interview and performance. Be sure to check the full listings below for the new and repeat comedy guests you’ll want to catch this week for the first or second time.

Fortunately this week, we also get new episodes from The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, The Jim Jefferies Show, The President Show and on Thursday, The Chris Gethard Show on truTV at 11pm with special guest Ellie Kemper.

In Rerun Land, the highlights include The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday with guest Jim Gaffigan and Monday’s with Sebastian Maniscalco performing. Tuesday’s repeat highlights include Jerry on a Colbert rerun and Bobby Moynihan on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Wednesday, you a get a chance to relive Ben Stiller on the Tonight Show and very very funny Dan St. Germain on Conan. Thursday, Conan is re-airing his most recent interview with comedy legend Carl Reiner and Friday you can enjoy on with Stephen Colbert, being interviewed and performing on a Late Show repeat.

Lame, under-achieving, late night hosts. Most do 4 shows a week (not 5) and probably get paid handsomely for their lack of effort. If they can take a “mid-Autumn” week off then I can take a whole year off from watching. Conan and JK are excused. I’ll give “The Opposition” and “The President’s Show” more time to prove themselves. The rest of ya’ll goid riddance.
