Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon Will EP New Apple TV Series

Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon have a new project to Executive Produce for Apple TV. “Little America” is a half hour series based on true stories of Immigrants in America. Nanjiani and Gordon will EP Along with Alan Yang (Master of None), and Lee Eisenberg (The Office) who will also write the series and serve as showrunner.

The original series for Apple TV that includes a deal with Oprah, a reboot of a Stephen Spielberg story, and project from M. Night Shyamalan. Not a ton of outright comedy projects are on the slate yet but there are a few of interest: Most promising is a series starring Kristin Wiig, and there’s also James Corden’s stand alone Carpool Karaoke show, an animated music comedy called Central Perk from Loren Bouchard (Bob’s Burgers) that has some big names signed to voice as well as a comedic drama called Little Voices that J.J. Abrams is producing with Sara Bareilles about the musicality of New York City, and a comedic series called Dickinson about the early life of Emily Dickinson that will star Hailee Steinfeld.

Update: It was announced today that Kristin Wiig is no longer a part of the Apple TV series inspired by the book You Think It, I’ll Say It.
