Keep Your Eye on Nick Guerra, Winner of the NBC Comedy Showcase

Keep your eye on comedian Nick Guerra because he’s having big year. Most people first heard of Nick when he got huge love from the Last Comic Standing judges earlier this year in Season 8.  Now NBC announced that they have signed Nick to a one year holding deal.

The holding deal was a part of a big comedy victory when he was announced as the grand prize winner for Stand Up NBC–  a talent search conducted by the network with contestants selected from Chicago, Vancouver, L.A., San Francisco and New York.  Stand Up NBC host Ron Funches announced Guerra as the winner.

The holding deal doesn’t mean he gets a show, but it does mean some nice cash.  Nick Guerra said, “There are two things every comedian needs for his career to stay alive – recognition of talent and car repair money. I’d like to thank NBC for continuing to show me support and for the new transmission.”

And Nick got big love from Wende Curtis, CEO of the Comedy Works in Denver – one of the most respected clubs in the country– who picked him as the highlight for her club in 2014.  Wende had said she hadn’t been familiar with Guerra before we walked into her club with a friend and went up, and they were all blown away.  “We were like ‘oh my god, this guy is amazing.”   They brought him back to headline, and he killed again.  “I believe he’s going to pop. This is somebody that came out of nowhere as the opening act, and then headlined for us and he’s going to be big.”
