Canadian born Katherine Ryan has spent the last decade in Great Britain, honing her comedy which she brought to America, Wednesday night on Conan. Katherine has no problem pulling the curtain back on her private life in her act. In the first 30 seconds of her Conan set, we found out she’s lived in England for 10 years, she has a daughter who’s British and she is enemies with her daughter’s father. She acts like she gets along with him for the sake of her kid, but as Katherine put it, that’s just more fake news.
Katherine compared having a British child to having “a tiny and ineffective butler”. Sure, the accent is nice and proper, but no work is getting done. She said her daughter is so British that she even stages her own Brexit when comes time to eat her vegetables. From there, Katherine talked about the differences between single men and single women and how even doing the simplest parental duties are considered an act of heroism if a man can pull them off. Katherine is also in the process of learning Hebrew just in case an she meets a nice, eligible Jewish man, or as Katherine calls it, “pulling an Ivanka.” You can watch Katherine’s set below and also find out what’s she considers her “beautiful prison.”
Katherine Ryan has a brand new comedy special which was just released internationally this week on all of Netflix’s global platforms. It’s Katherine Ryan: In Trouble and it was recorded at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London. It’s available for streaming now.
