Just For Laughs Founder Leaves Organization Over Allegations of Sexual Misconduct

All the allegations of sexual impropriety in the news have stirred up a lot of dirt in the comedy community- long known for being plagued with concerns of sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape and other improper behavior. Today, news emerged that Gilbert Rozon, founder and President of the biggest comedy festival in the world resigned from his position following reports that a number of women have asserted that he assaulted them.

On Wednesday Rozon announced that he would step away from his position with Just for Laughs, saying “To all those who have been offended in my life, I am truly sorry.”

An actress, an entrepreneur and others are leveling serious allegations against Rozon ranging from butt slapping and inappropriate comments to unwanted digital penetration, unlawful confinement and rape. The accusations come over the course of over 30 years.

In 1998, Rozon avoided jail time and received other preferential treatment from authorities after pleading guilty and agreeing to receive therapy for abusing his power.
