Jon Stewart’s New Animated HBO Show Coming This Fall
Way back in November, we reported that Jon Stewart had inked a four-year production deal with HBO. The details were scant then — and well, they’re still scant now — but we have just learned a few more tidbits on just what Stewart will be up to at the network.
According to Deadline, one of the “short-form digital projects” he’s working on is “an animated parody of a cable news network” that is “Onion-like, with video and text.” Apparently, the way that the show is filmed will allow for Stewart to comment on topics in real-time.
HBO’s chief of programming, Casey Bloys, said that he hopes to see the show “up and running by September or October,” which will be a critical time for a politically-themed show from a guy like Jon Stewart to come out. The show will be available online and will likely air during HBO’s regular television schedule.
