The Jon Stewart of Egypt is Coming to America

Bassem Youssef had a political satire show in Egypt with 30 million viewers earning him the reputation of being the “Jon Stewart of Egypt.”  Now he doesn’t; he’s here in the United States.

Wednesday night on the Late Show he told Stephen Colbert that when he lived in Egypt, he lived under an actual dictator, and that by comparison, America still has it pretty good. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to laugh about in the United States.  Like for example, that we are spending 7 billion dollars on an election which could end with Donald Trump as president.

His observations on American culture and politics will be the basis of a political talk show on Fusion’s digital arm which means you’ll be able to watch it without leaving the comfort of your phone. His new show, The Democracy Handbook sounds like it will talk a lot about Trump who he calls an “orange mole” on the ass of America. Check out a clip from Bassem Youssef’s Late Show appearance below.
