Jimmy Kimmel Will Host The Oscars…Again… in 2018

Jimmy Kimmel gets a back-to-back win– he’s being invited back to host the Oscars again in 2018. The Academy must have been happy with his performance last year, and his ability to stay cool in a crisis, or they wouldn’t be bringing him back.

“Hosting the Oscars was a highlight of my career and I am grateful to Cheryl, Dawn and the Academy for asking me to return to work with two of my favorite people, Mike De Luca and Jennifer Todd,” said Kimmel in a statement. “If you think we screwed up the ending this year, wait until you see what we have planned for the 90th anniversary show!”

Kimmel joins the ranks of other comedic emcees who have appeared in the role more than once- Jon Stewart, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, Walter Matthau, Goldie Hawn, Ellen, Chevy Chase, Jack Benny, Steve Martin, Jerry Lewis, Jack Lemmon, Whoopi Goldberg, Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, and Bob Hope have all hosted more than once.

Prior to hosting the Oscars, Kimmel hosted the Prime Time Emmy Awards in 2016 and in 2012. He also hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2012 and of course, he’s been hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live nightly since 2003.

The 90th Oscars will air on Sunday, March 4, 2018 and will be broadcast on ABC at 7 p.m. ET.
