Jim Norton Defends Johns and Prostitution for Time Magazine

Comedian and self proclaimed frequent purveyor of prostitutes, Jimmy Norton recently wrote an opinion piece for Time Magazine Online where he argues for the legalization of prostitution and defends the men that use their services.

In the article, Norton calls for a  “National Day of Johns”, and admits he has been ignorant to the abuse that sex workers are subjected to. That all changed one night when he was speaking to a prostitute through the passenger window of his car – “As we were speaking, a van full of girls stopped and a guy who I assume was her pimp, bounced her across the hood of my car and threw her in the van.”  That event confirmed his feelings about legalization of prostitution, he said.  “This is why I’m a firm believer that prostitution should be legalized and pimps should be thrown down an elevator shaft.”
