Jim Jefferies Diving Into Late Night This Summer!

There’s not a lot of details to tell, but Comedy Central announced today that they have picked up a new Jim Jefferies late night show.  Jefferies’ thirty minute show will air once a week, starting this summer, and run for ten weeks. Jefferies is expected to tackle all the big news stories, politics, Trump, and everything he feels like talking about. Jefferies is well known for his biting social commentary which he’s demonstrated in his stand up, and most recently on Real Time with Bill Maher when he told Piers Morgan to fuck off.

Back in December, Jefferies shot the pilot with a live studio audience, so we’ll assume that the show will have an audience component.

Jefferies’ career is on fire. He was just voted by our readers as the Stand Up Comedian of the Year in 2016 and all of us here are big fans. Other than tweeting out a link for tickets to the event, Jefferies hasn’t said much about the show, so we’re looking forward to Comedy Central revealing some details about format. We do know there is (or at least was) an anchor desk, but not much more.

“I’d like to thank Comedy Central for this incredible opportunity,” said Jefferies. “It’s always been a dream of mine to do a show in this arena and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve got planned.”

The pilot announcement promised we would see Jim move “behind the anchor desk” and told us that he “brings his sharp social commentary to a whole new audience.” Gun violence, slavery, pornography, and Donald Trump, were expected topics. “These are dark times in America. Jim Jefferies is here to make it a little bit darker.”

No date or time slot has yet to be announced, but whenever it airs, we’ll be watching.

Executive produced by Jefferies, Scott Zabielski and Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Alex Murray and Tim Sarkes.
