Jim Gaffigan’s Next Special Coming to Netflix

Netflix continues its domination of the comedy special front with the announcement this week that the service will play host to Jim Gaffigan’s new hour, due out January 10th. The special, called Cinco, is (appropriately) Gaffigan’s fifth, and was co-written/directed by his wife, Jeannie Gaffigan. The footage was captured during one of Gaffigan’s performances on his hugely-successful Fully Dressed Tour earlier this year, a tour that saw Gaffigan selling out Madison Square Garden and selling a record-setting 29,000 tickets in Salt Lake City.

Gaffigan has been widely regarded as one of the best clean comics in the industry today, and has enjoyed that title for the better part of a decade now. While he may have just brought his hit sitcom The Jim Gaffigan Show to an end (in order to spend time with his kids, not due to ratings) after only two seasons, don’t mistake that as a sign that he’s slowing down. In 2017 alone, Gaffigan is set to appear in FX’s smash hit Fargo and in no less than six movies, including the Ted Kennedy-based Chappaquiddick and animated feature The Guardian Brothers.

Gaffigan’s deal with Netflix doesn’t just encompass this and future specials, either; Netflix now has exclusive rights to all of Gaffigan’s past specials as well. As a comedy fan, if there were ever a time to fork over the few bucks a month it costs to subscribe to Netflix, now would be it.

Cinco will premiere on Netflix on January 10th. Until then, you can watch all four of his previous specials — Mr. Universe, King Baby, Obsessed and Beyond the Pale — on the service as well.
