Jerrod Carmichael Series Go Jerrod Go is a Go!

Jerrod Carmichael has gone through NBC’s pilot season, twice. The second time is the charm for Jerrod.  NBC has ordered a 6 episode run of his comedy. The sitcom which was tentatively called “Go Jerrod Go” is now listed as untitled.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series is semi-autobiographical with Jerrod Carmichael playing a fictional version of himself based on his stand up. It focuses on all the dysfunctional relationships in his life. The cast includes David Alan Grier as Jerrod’s politically incorrect father who will argue against anything that Jerrod is for. Amber West plays Jerrod’s girlfriend who is training to be a therapist. Lil Rel Howery (Lucas Bros. Moving Co, Friends of the People) is cast as Jerrod’s street hustling brother and Loretta Devine will play Jerrod’s mother who wants to make sure her family is right with the Lord, which is why Jerrod keeps his living arrangements with his girlfriend secret.

The pilot and series is written by Jerrod Carmichael and writer-director Nicholas Stoller (Get Him To The Greek, Yes Man).

NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said, “We’re excited to be going forward to series with Jerrod. We can’t wait to see how he and his outstanding cast deliver the funny.”

The Jerrod Carmichael comedy is the first pilot picked up for a series by NBC for this year’s pilot season.
