Jeff Ross Roasts a Texas Prison for Comedy Central

Jeff Ross went to a prison in the heart of Texas to live with the inmates, perform a special, and roast the prisoners he met. It’s not fake, but he may be crazy. And you will be able to watch it on Comedy Central.

Ross is known as the Roastmaster general, and he’s also been called the meanest man in comedy, which he says is “a blessing and a curse.” It’s not a bad way to make a living, he says, “but every now and then somebody wants to kill me.” So why would the guy who makes people want to kill him head to a prison to do his next special? One word: guards. Prisons have guards which is more protection than he’ll get in any club.

Part of Ross’ preparation for the special involved living like a prisoner. Ross spent three days in the prison, sleeping in a cell, playing basketball in the yard, hanging with the inmates and hearing their stories, gaining insight, and material for the special.

Comedy Central is calling Ross’s new prison special the “most dangerous – and enlightening – roast of his life from behind the walls of the Brazos County Jail in Bryan, Texas.” The 75 minute extended special is part stand up, part roast, and will premiere on June 13th at 11pm on Comedy Central.

The extended and uncensored version of “Jeff Ross Roasts Criminals: Live at Brazos County Jail” will be available on June 14 in the Comedy Central App to fans that sign in via their cable or satellite provider. The Comedy Central App is available for free for iOS on the App Store, on Chromecast, for Android on the Google Play store, and for Xbox One. It will also be available for download on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox Video, Sony Entertainment Network, Vudu and Google Play on June 13. The digital album also will be available on that date on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Google Play, Spotify and all streaming services.

“Jeff Ross Roasts Criminals: Live at Brazos County Jail” is executive produced by Ross, Stuart Miller, Willie Mercer and Amy Zvi. Christian McLaughlin is the Executive in Charge for Comedy Central.
