Jeannie Gaffigan Recovering From Emergency Brain Surgery

Earlier this week, Jim Gaffigan revealed on social media that his wife and writing/producing partner Jeannie Gaffigan was diagnosed with a brain tumor and is recovering from urgent brain surgery. According to his posts, two weeks ago, tests revealed Jeannie had a large and life threatening tumor around her brain stem. A nine hour surgery resulted in successful removal of the tumor, according to Jim’s posts.

He posted a photo of her in bed with a breathing tube captioned, “Mom takes care of us. Now we take of her.” The miracle of baby medicine. Thanks for the prayers everyone. @jeanniegaffigan”

Jim also posted on his Facebook page, “Two weeks ago an MRI revealed @jeanniegaffigan had a large tumor around her brain stem that was life threatening,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday morning. “After nine hours of urgent surgery the tumor was completely removed. She is now recovering at home. We thank you for your continued prayers.”

Jeannie Gaffigan, in addition to being Jim’s wife and mom of 5, has been writing with Jim for about 12 years and she’s been producing for him even longer. In an episode of Unmasked with Jim and Jeannie, she said she has been producing for him unofficially, and evolved to becoming an actual producer for him, and eventually realized she could write in his point of view. “So if he made 5 observations about a doughnut, I could make 5 more, and it just kind of pulled the resources together a lot, because I don’t have the same point of view myself about doughnuts, but I understand Jim’s point of view about doughnuts.” She also became the EP of their brilliant Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land.  “Jeannie, she’s the smart one,” Jim said in the interview. “She’s the real deal.”

Wishing the smartest Gaffigan a quick and full recovery!
