Jay Leno Goes Anti-Cosby

Jay Leno is a comedian who has repeated on more than one occasion that he won’t discuss his politics. He’s considers himself an observer who doesn’t have a personal stake in the news of the day other than finding the humor in it. That’s changed with the Bill Cosby story. The former Tonight Show host took a definite stand on how he feels about the sexual assault allegations against TV’s former favorite dad.

Variety reported that in a Q&A session at the NATPE Convention, Jay Leno said, “I don’t know why it’s so hard to believe women. You to go Saudi Arabia and you need two women to testify against a man. Here you need 25.”

Leno also talked about how it was Hannibal Buress who started the whole media nightmare for Cosby with a single joke that made the rounds online. Cosby said Hannibal, “made a flat-out statement that reverberated around the world. On any other media that would have been edited. People are getting news unfiltered now.”

While standing up for the women accusing Bill Cosby, Jay Leno also talked about the women working in comedy. He said, “it’s a good time for female comedians right now”. Although things aren’t perfect. He added he was “disappointed there isn’t more diversity in latenight comedy.”

Leno is currently preparing his car series “Jay Leno’s Garage” for a weekly primetime run on CNBC. The financial channel said it will premiere sometime in 2015.
