Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson Explain Why They Love Vehicles More Than Talk Shows

Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson Talk Planes, and Automobiles (So far, no trains)

In an all new episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, Leno talks with fellow former late night talk show host Craig Ferguson about why they love their respective favorite vehicles more than they love working in showbiz. For Jay (obviously) cars are his top choice, but for Ferguson, it’s all about airplanes.

In this exclusive clip from the upcoming episode, Ferguson explains why he prefers flying, to driving cars, and to piloting a television show. piloting, he explains, is  “much simpler than trying to drive a 50 year old car with a stick shift.” And in show business he says, “you live by bullshitting.”  Everything is bullshit in television, whereas “in engineering– in flying and cars– [if] you bullshit, you die. You lie about your ability to do what you can do, you’ll end up dead.”

Leno agreed. “That’s always my thing,” he said, “because if a car is broken, and now its running, well no one can say it’s not running.”

In this episode, you’ll see Jay Leno stick it to the man and drives with rebels.  Comedian and ex-punk rocker Craig Ferguson teaches Jay how to be a rebel … even in a British mail delivery car. Jay heads to Tennessee to talk bootlegging with NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Ray Evernham. Then he checks out a radical hot rod Rolls Royce and the ultimate sleeper vehicle – a Dodge Hellcat trapped in a Prius body. Through these adventures, Jay finds out what it means to automotively thumb your nose at the establishment!

“Jay Leno’s Garage” takes the fast and the furious car fan for a high-octane spin across the country with a mix of stunts, reviews, celebrity interviews and challenges. As well as putting some of the world’s most amazing vehicles through their paces, Jay meets fellow car enthusiasts from who he’ll discover the touching, hilarious and sometimes hard to believe stories that make these cars more than just rubber and metal. There’s no wheel Jay won’t get behind to tell the story of our love affair with the automobile.

Jay Leno’s Garage airs on Thursdays at 10pm on CNBC at 10pm ET/PT. This all new episode debuts this Thursday, May 17th.
