Brian Henson, the son of Jim Henson has been trying to get his R Rated puppet project Happytime Murderers off the ground for a while. It seems like it may finally happen since Deadline reports that Jamie Foxx is now in negotiations to star in the project. The film is about puppets getting murdered that used to be on a show together and the detectives investigating the murders. Foxx would play a very by the book Los Angeles PD detective who has concerns about re-partnering with a former partner who is a bit of a womanizer and a drinker.

Foxx is best known for Ray, and more recently, Django Unchained, but has a history of big comedic roles before he moved on to dramatic parts. Foxx got his start on Fox’s tv series Roc and In Living Color sketch series.

The massive success of Deadpool, bringing comedy and particularly R rated comedy to the super hero genre has undoubtably had some influence here, bringing a raised interested in adult comedy.
