James Franco’s SNL Doc Premieres Friday
James Franco announced on Instagram that his documentary about Saturday Night Live will be out this Friday on Hulu Plus.
What started as an NYU film school project for grad student James Franco, ended up being a 90 minute look at a week in the life of SNL. Franco filmed behind-the-scenes at Saturday Night Live in 2008 when John Malkovich hosted the December 6th episode. The film debuted at the 2010 TriBeCa Film Festival. That episode featured musical guest T.I., Amy Poehler returning from having a baby and playing Hillary Clinton plus a digital short, “Jizz In My Pants” from The Lonely Island. The doc has not been previewed since TriBeCa.
The release on Hulu Plus this Friday is a day before the premiere of Saturday Night Live’s 40th season opener starring host Chris Pratt.
