International Soccer Legend Georgio Chinaglia Dies at 65

Georgio Chinaglia who gained fame in the 70s playing for Italy international and later on the New York Cosmos died in Florida today.

He started his career playing at Swansea before returning to his native country of Italy and playing for Internapoli and Lazio and  played for Italy in the 1974 World Cup.

Later he helped pioneer the North American Soccer League, playing for the New York Cosmos. At the end of his career, he was the NASL’s all-time leading scorer with 243 goals.  A cause of death has not been reported, however, he had been hospitalized with heart problems recently.
