Saturday Night Live alums Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Seth Meyers are rewriting history for a brand new IFC series. “Documentary Now!” will cover big big moments throughout history.  These journalists will cover the journalists.  These documentaries will document documentaries, and it seems like they have just the right team to cover it.

Over the six episode run, you’ll see an episode called Kunuk: a documentary on the first documentary.  The team will also explore an Icelandic town’s festival celebrating American gangster Al Capone.  And get ready to look at the hardships of being a ’70’s rock band that just doesn’t care.

Fred Armisen and Bill Hader will star in the series and you’ll get to see Jack Black, John Slattery, Aidy Bryant, Mike O’Brien, Paula Pell, Tim Robinson and iconic music manager Irving Azoff sprinkled throughout. Armisen, Hader and Seth Meyers all serve as creators, executive producers and writers.

“We’re all fans of documentary film and this allows us to use that love of documentary film and combine it with comedy to present a sort of unique take on the form,” said Armisen, Hader and Meyers in a joint statement.

The six-episode series premieres Thursday, August 20 at 10:00pm ET/PT on IFC. Documentary Now! is produced by Broadway Video and executive produced by Lorne Michaels.
