The Birthday Boys won’t be making it to their 3rd birthday. IFC cancelled the sketch comedy show after just two seasons. Entertainment Weekly reported IFC’s statement which said, “IFC was proud to be the home of The Birthday Boys and their unique and inventive comedy for two seasons. We thank these talented creators and wish them nothing but the best. We will miss the laughs, the farce and the pixilated male nudity.”

In a preemptive publicity move, The Birthday Boys released their own statement on Facebook announcing that since the show had be cancelled, they would be stepping down as hosts. “We are surprised and saddened to hear that IFC had already chosen to cancel ‪#‎TheBirthdayBoys‬ series before our resignation as hosts. But we are relieved we conveniently announced our resignation as hosts minutes before IFC publicly announced their decision. We are smart. Huge thanks to #TheBirthdayBoys fans for watching and huge thanks to IFC for 2 wonderful seasons! We’ll keep at it.”

Bob Odenkirk who executive produced the series and help create it, announced on Twitter that he too was leaving the cancelled show. He included a video message from The Birthday Boys with cast member Mike Mitchell speaking for the group.
