IFC Jumps On Board Jack Black’s “D Train” Comedy

Jack Black’s new comedy “The D Train” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and studios started bidding on the rights to it. IFC was the winner in the deal. According to Variety, the deal was worth “a healthy seven figures”. FOX Searchlight was also extremely interested in the film.

“The D Train” stars Jack Black as Dan Landsman who was an outsider in high school, but today, he’s the head of the reunion committee. His goal is to convince the most popular guy in his class (played by James Marsden) to return for the reunion. His quest takes him to Los Angeles and some unexpected circumstances.

Part of the IFC deal includes a wide theatrical release for the movie. Jack Black is also just finishing up his voice work on “Kung Fu Panda 3” which will be released in March, 2016.
