Ice Bucket Challenge Leads To ALS Breakthrough
After receiving a $1 Million Dollar donation from the ALS Association, The University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Project MinE was able to find the gene that is responsible for ALS. NEK1 is the name of the identified gene which could now lead to clues and possibly treat cases of ALS. People who participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge are just now learning what it was for and had to stop recording themselves doing the Running Man Challenge to see this news.
