Hulu to Launch New Comedy Channel

Comedy fans will have a new viewing destination starting July 29 with the launch of Comedy Dynamics on Hulu and Hulu Plus.

The streaming on-demand comedy channel will offer viewers a wide range of comedy options, from contemporary comedians to classic stand-ups, with material spanning the past four decades. It will include long-form stand-up specials, as well as short-form clips and sketches.

It will also allow viewers to see curated stand-up performances from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s with its “Marquee Edition for Stand-Up” series, featuring iconic and groundbreaking performers such as Roseanne Barr and Richard Jeni.  The channel will offer the entire archive of Comedy Dynamics’ stand-up archives, available as a free streaming option on Hulu.

“As the largest producer of high end stand-up comedy in the U.S., we wanted to seek out a partner that had the reach and respect we feel our artists deserve. Hulu was the obvious choice,” said Comedy Dynamics President Brian Volk-Weiss.

The Comedy Dynamics label was launched in 2008 as a division of New Wave Entertainment. It has produced more than 90 comedy specials and more than 125 comedy albums. It received two Grammy nominations in 2013 in the “Best Stand-Up Album” category for albums by Craig Ferguson and Bob Saget.

The channel will Launch on July 29 with 45 comedy specials, and more to come.  Some of the highlights include:  Tom Segura “Completely Normal” (2014), Sklar Brothers “What Are We Talking About” (2014), Marc Maron “Thinky Pain” (2014), DL Hughley “Clear” (2014), Mike Vecchione “Muscle Confusion” (2014), Laffmob Presents “We Got Next” (2014), Tammy Pescatelli “Finding the Funny” (2014), Kathleen Madigan “Madigan, Again, Again” (2013), Jim Norton “Please Be Offended” (2013), Tom Rhodes “Light, Sweet, Crude” (2012) and more!
